Description
The accommodation
The accommodation is a two storey house with heated swimming pool set in its own grounds with sea views.
The pool measures approximately 8.5m x 3.7m (28 x 12 ft) and has sunbeds and small tables for your use.
The entrance to the villa is off the pool area and leads straight in to the hallway. To your left are two doors, the first is a bedroom with two single beds and overlooking the pool area. All windows on the ground floor have decorative wrought iron bars on them, this allows you to have the windows open safely while in the property.
The second door leads into the main bedroom, with double bed. Straight ahead of you is the third bedroom, which once again has two single beds.
To the left are the stairs to the living areas and just past the stairs is the main bathroom with integral shower. Note how the sleeping areas are downstairs unlike in England, this is because hot air rises and so the bedrooms stay cooler than the living areas.
Once upstairs you will see the living/dining room with large French windows leading on to the veranda. The veranda overlooks the pool area and has table and chairs and brick built barbeque.
Off the living room is the shower room, perfect for large families [ two bathrooms equal less queuing when you are all getting ready to hit the town].
The kitchen is also off the living room and is fully equipped with full size cooker, microwave, coffee maker, washing machine, fridge/freezer and plenty of cutlery, crockery and pots and pans. There is also a small archway in the kitchen which leads on to the front balcony, which, with its lovely views of the mountains and the times when it is also in shade, provides a quiet respite from the heat of the day
Places of Interest
LOCATION
Located within a private development of detached residential villas standing in their own gardens, with private swimming pool and occupying a superb central location between the major beaches of Puerto del Carmen, with views of the sea.
Villa Darcy is situated in an ideal spot just 5 minutes walk away from the many amenities including shops, bars and restaurants on the Avenida Las Playas and the more sheltered Las Rocas beaches of Lanzarote
The new 18 hole golf course at Puerto del Carmen is only 5 minutes from the villa.
We are also close to the fantastic Rancho Texas 'wild west themed park'.
THE ISLAND
The Island of Lanzarote has much to offer and because it is small it is possible to see it all if you hire a car. There are great beaches in Puerto, Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and, best of all, Papagayo.
There is a golf course in Teguise and there is also a water park on the island, fun for all the family! But just try driving around to get a real flavour of Lanzarote and don't forget to see the volcano's.
Playa los Pocillos
Leave the villa and walk along the Avenida Italia to the main coast road and turn left, keep going and as you pass the San Antonio hotel you will see the beaches of Los Pocillos in front of you. This is one of the beaches that can get a little windy at times, but in the summer that breeze can be very welcome. If you have very young children you will find that when the tide goes out it leaves behind a large shallow pool which is ideal for them to play in. As you walk along the esplanade towards the beach you will see a small area where the children can play set around a little refreshment hut, but if you are in the mood for something more substantial carry on to the far end where there is a selection of fine bars and restaurants.
Arrieta and Orzola
To the north of the island you will find the fishing villages of Arrieta an Orzola. Both are renowned for their fish restaurants. You can also catch the ferry to La Graciosa from the harbour at Orzola every day. Just before arriving at Orzola, if you look to your left you may catch sight of some small beaches with white sand, the last of which has a natural pool left behind when the tide goes out and plenty of natural ‘wind shelters’ built out of volcanic rock by the locals, if you can find one empty stake your claim before anyone else grabs it.
Montanas del Fuego
The fire mountains. No visit to Lanzarote is complete without a trip to see the ‘Fire Mountains’ The centre of the island is the ‘Parque Nacional’ or Timanfaya and in the middle of the park is the fire mountains themselves. Pay to see the mountains and this entitles you to a coach ride around the volcano's accompanied by mood music and an interesting commentary on the history of the park. You then get to see a demonstration [no I wont spoil it for you!] and a chance to see food being cooked on the heat from the volcano. And then how about tasting it in the restaurant before you leave.
Papagayo
Head right to the southern tip of the island and you will find the best beaches. Here you will find white sand and crystal clear water made all the more tempting by the fact that you have to climb down the rocks to reach the beaches. There is a fee of a few Euros to get onto the beaches, but there are no services so it is advisable to take a picnic with you. There is a cool box and thermos flask for your use at the villa, just ask the management.
