Description

Set in peaceful surroundings, high above the riverside hamlet of Port Navas, Treviades Melyn occupies a stunning position, with unspoilt  views over the Lizard.
Thought to have been built around 1850, this granite mill has now been converted to the highest standard, by local craftsmen re-using much of the original materials and techniques and was shortlisted in the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2009.
This luxury family getaway is surrounded by gently rolling farmland that meets the Helford River, the inspiration for Daphne Du Mauriers reknowned novel Frenchmans Creek.  Included in the hire of Treviades Melyn is membership of the Port Navas Yacht Club, which is under a mile away and has a cosy bar and restaurant offering freshly cooked local produce.  The village of Constantine has local shops and is just a mile and a half away.
Treviades Melyn is a 4 bedroom house that sleeps 8 guests. Across the cobbled driveway there is an additional twin bedroom and shower room accessed from an external stairway, above the family games room. Overall capacity is 10 people. There is ample parking space in the gated drive, to the side of the house. The large south facing garden is a gently sloping lawn, so bags of space for everyone to relax or enjoy more energetic activities. The breathtaking views can be appreciated from every room in the house.
The house is entered from the front of the property into the hallway where there’s a comfy seating area and work station. Above the specially made oak staircase is a roof light set into the original features.
The kitchen is fully fitted with range oven, fridge/freezer/icemaker, wine cooler, dishwasher, walk-in larder and well equipped with crockery, cutlery, utensils and general culinary paraphernalia. There’s also a tv with free-sat, radio, cd and ipod docking station. A large traditional wooden table takes centre stage and sliding/folding glass doors lead out onto the terrace.
The utility room can be entered from the back door or the kitchen and holds the washing machine, tumble dryer and Belfast sink. Opposite is the cloakroom with wc and handbasin.
The sitting room is tastefully furnished with corner wood burner, sofa’s, easy chairs and flat screened tv with Sky HD and home cinema. Sliding/folding doors lead out onto the terrace, where there is a table and chairs for al fresco dining, together with sun loungers and a gas BBQ.
Upstairs there are 4 good sized, individually styled bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super kingsize bed, bedroom 2 and 3 have super kingsize zip & links, which can be doubles or twins and bedroom 4 has 3 foot bunk beds that are comfortable for either adults or children. Each bedroom has opening doors with Juliet balconies. There are 2 family bathrooms, one has separate shower and freestanding bath and the second has shower over bath.
The games room is well stocked with a variety of indoor games, including darts, table tennis and a huge selection of board games and outside activities, badminton, cricket and football.

Places of Interest

Coast/Beach
The Helford River has many unspoilt, tiny beaches that can only be accessed easily by boat. All along the south coast of Cornwall there are sheltered coves, ancient creeks and palm trees. Falmouth has many family friendly beaches, around 7 miles away. If you want to have a go at surfing, we recommend you visit the north side of Cornwall, it’s a trip of about 30 miles. A total contrast with long sandy beaches that are more exposed and can be windy.

Golf
There are some great golf courses locally. Nearest is the Budock Vean Hotel which is about 2 miles. Falmouth Golf Club is around 7 miles away. Mullion Golf Club approximately 12 miles away, is England’s most southerly course, situated on the cliffs of the Lizard. The views are absolutely stunning and worth visiting just for the walk.

Special interest holidays
For sailors, the Port Navas Yacht Club is under a mile away and membership is included in the hire of our property. Boats can be hired from Helford (a short drive away) on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Alternatively, you're welcome to bring your own boat as there's plenty of room to park a trailer. Being situated close to the South West Coast Path, the property is ideal for walking holidays, and dogs are welcome here.
