Description

Harness Barn is a two-storey barn conversion and the largest of the two-bedroom cottages at West Banbury. The open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area is spacious and features exposed stone and large oak beams.
Upstairs you will find a double and a twin bedroom plus a bathroom with power shower over the bath. In addition a single fold-away bed is available for use in the downstairs area. The front door opens onto a sitting-out area in the courtyard.
We try to make our cottages as inviting as possible - because we want you to feel as welcome as possible.  If there's something special you'd like, please let us know and we will do out best to oblige. The cottages are comfortable for all-year round holidays. They retain much of their character with exposed stonework and vaulted ceilings. We look after the cottages ourselves and we trust you will find them clean and well-maintained.
Because our cottages are all different and vary in size, we are an ideal venue for large gatherings of family and friends, our larger cottages, Haybarn and Wilhayes providing a good space for everyone to get together.  Equally, with our attractive one bedroom cottages, we can offer a superb holiday for couples.
Harness Barn has electric night storage heaters and a heated towel rail by meter reading, double glazing, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, radio/CD, TV, DVD,  microwave,  garden furniture and access to a barbecue.  The kitchen is well-equipped and you should find everything you need to prepare a children's tea or something a little fancier for the adults.
For babies and toddlers, we can supply travel cots, highchairs, stairgates or bed guards.
We can offer babysitting for guests at weekends and evenings.  Please get in touch with us if you would like details prior to arrival.
For your convenience Asda, and now Tesco, deliver here, so please feel free to use this service, although it may be useful to let us know if you are expecting a delivery!
There’s a lot more to West Banbury than just our beautiful cottages. For the more energetic, we have an indoor swimming pool plus a games room with a pool table and table tennis.  Outside, we have a grass tennis court and a large and very popular pitch & putt - a bit of fun for all the family. If all that sounds a bit exhausting, unwind and relax in our peaceful grounds, visit the duck pond, or simply admire the wonderful views to Dartmoor.
And you won’t have to worry about the children getting bored. One of the many joys of West Banbury is that children can enjoy their freedom in safety. Car parking is away from the cottages, and with the outdoor play area, pool, pitch & putt, tennis and endless space to simply run around, there’s plenty to exhaust even the most energetic! We also have a good supply of books, games and toys for those quieter moments.
We live at West Banbury too and are always on hand, able to give advice on where to go or where to eat. We want you to enjoy your holiday to the full, and whether you’re a couple or a family with children we think you’ll find everything you need right here.
Why not relax with a beauty and pampering service? Katie and Jodie are local beauty therapists who can come to your cottage and make you feel great with the minimum of effort! Katie is BTEC NVQ Level 2 and 3 and is a member of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists. Her treatments include body massage, aromatherapy massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, fake tan, body contour wrap and platinum detox. Jodie M.I.C.H.T. specialises in reflexology. Great for relieving stress, this is a deeply relaxing treatment which improves circulation, cleanses the body of toxins and impurities and balances the system as a whole. Full details of the treatments on offer are in all the cottages – all you have to do is arrange a time for Katie or Jodie to come and visit you in the comfort of your own cottage. Finish off with a sauna and a dip in the pool for a truly indulgent day…
Why not try a pampering weekend? If you and a group of friends fancy a relaxing break then with the pool and sauna on site you won't have to go far.

Places of Interest

Nothing is far away from West Banbury. We are near the A30 in West Devon making getting here and exploring Devon and Cornwall easy. Whether it’s beaches, coves, beauty spots, stately homes and gardens, places of historical interest or children’s activities you want, all are easily accessible.

The rugged north Cornish coastline provides surfing beaches at Bude and Widemouth Bay (both less than 45 minutes away) while our family favourite, Crackington Haven, with its vast rock pools, is 30 minutes away. Visit Tintagel and King Arthur’s Castle (40 minutes), and take a diversion for lunch at the picturesque fishing port of Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s restaurant. The Eden Project is 45 minutes away, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan is 1 hour, both all year tourist attractions in the St Austell area. The popular south coast resorts of Polperro and Looe are also less than an hour's drive.

For children, there are numerous theme parks, indoor and outdoor activity centres, castles, go-karting, farms and animal sanctuaries spread throughout the region.

If you like walking, enjoy the coastal footpaths, or visit Dartmoor or Bodmin Moor, wonderful walking and pony trekking country.

On the doorstep is the 760 acre Roadford Lake, increasingly popular for watersports, fishing and birdwatching, which has an excellent network of footpaths and cycle paths, picnic areas, tea room and gift shop. Fly fishing for brown trout is available and there is a launch site for sailing dinghies. Sailing and wind surfing courses are also available and bird watching hides are situated around the lake.

Horse riding, coarse and fly fishing, sailing and 18 hole golf courses are all on the doorstep.

The National Trust’s Lanhydrock, Castle Drogo, Cotehele and Buckland Abbey are all within 25 miles. The charming market towns of Launceston, Tavistock and Okehampton are all nearby, Launceston only 10 minutes by car.

There is a good selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes, providing an excellent choice for all budgets, all within 15 minutes of West Banbury, with the closest pubs less than 10 minutes away.

From J31 of the M5 motorway, take the A30 heading towards Okehampton and Launceston.

Follow the A30 for about 36 miles and exit at Broadwoodwidger, Bratton Clovelly and Roadford Lake, about 13 miles after Okehampton.

At the T-junction turn right over the bridge. Stay on this road, ignoring the turning for Broadwoodwidger, and West Banbury is at the top of the hill, about 1 mile on the right.
