Florida Gulf Coast

The Gulf Coast region of the United States is made up of all of the states that border and have coastlines adjoining with the Gulf of Mexico. The famous "Gulf Coast States" are Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Thanks to the southerly location of the Gulf Coast and the low and flat lying land due to the many rivers that intersect the region the climate is generally sunny and perfect for relaxing in, although at certain times in the year the region is vulnerable to the odd hurricane!

The scenery of the Gulf Coast is made up of a tremendous variety of peninsulas jutting out into the ocean surrounded by a number of barrier islands that protect the bays and inlets, ensuring that a days bathing and enjoying the sun, sea and sand will not be disrupted by inclement weather for much of the year. The Louisiana marshland regions inland of the Gulf Coast are important habitats for a huge variety of species.

The region is vital to the economy of the United States and it has played a vital role in the history of the US. The area was originally settled by French and Spanish explorers and the Gulf Coast became part of the United States during the beginning of the 19th century. The protected bays and coves proved perfect for the creation of ports and harbours and the area became a trading hub with a tremendous variety of shipping lanes terminating along the Gulf Coast. By the second half of the 19th century the area was populated by the wealthiest people in the United States, with New Orleans being the largest city that was not situated in the Atlantic Coastline.

Since then the Gulf coast region has become something of a cultural capital in the US with many flocking to the Gulf Coast each year to enjoy the weather and the hospitality that the area is famous for. Tourism is the Gulf Coast's major source of income and property values are slowing rising; there has never been a better time to purchase home holiday rentals. We wish you the best of luck in your search for your Florida Villa Rental Holiday Home on Gulf coast.
