Corfu
Corfu is a beautiful and majestic Greek island situated in a jewel in the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea. Geographically it is situated close to Albania (just 2 miles at its closest point) and the southern regions of Corfu are situated close to Greece. The island of Corfu itself is a popular tourist destination and there are holiday homes who will be able to accommodate your every need and help you enjoy the holiday of a lifetime.
Corfu plays an important role in the history of Greece and it has helped shape Greek culture for generations right back to the beginnings of Greek mythology. According to myth Corfu itself is closely linked to Poseidon and many tales relating to the character. In fact the old town of the city of Corfu was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. One of the main attractions of Corfu that draws many tourists to the islands is the stunning scenery and relaxing atmosphere; from beautiful golden beaches through to majestic mountainous highlands the small island really does have something to offer for everyone.
There are a number of holiday homes set high in the mountains that offer incredibly grandiose and spectacular views all year round; many make the trek to the tops of the two peaks of Palaio Frourio to enjoy the stunning vistas laid out below. Much of the architecture in the Corfu city itself dates back to the 16th century and it represents a true link to the past; much of it is completely unspoilt and it is a place one must make a definite effort to visit when staying on Corfu.
