Corfu

Corfu is a beautiful and majestic Greek island situated in a jewel in the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea. Geographically it is situated close to Albania (just 2 miles at its closest point) and the southern regions of Corfu are situated close to Greece. Corfu plays an important role in the history of Greece and it has helped shape Greek culture for generations right back to the beginnings of Greek mythology. According to myth Corfu itself is closely linked to Poseidon and many tales relating to the character. In fact the old town of the city of Corfu was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
