Canada is a stunning area that occupies a large portion of the North American continent and it is blessed with stunning scenery and a range of different climates spread over a vast area full of places to explore and things to see and do. Canada itself is often overlooked as a tourist destination compared to the US with which it shares the longest border in the world, and it stretches from the temperate regions on the border right up to the Arctic regions in the northerly reaches of the country. In fact the most northern settlement in the world is in Canada; the Canadian Forces Station Alert is situated on Ellsmere Island just over 500 miles from the North pole.

The coastline of Canada is also incredibly rich and varied, it is broken up into many islands, inlets and other interesting geographical features, and it is one of the longest coastlines in the world. The scenery in Canada varies from region to region, the coniferous forests give way to tundra and barren land the further north you travel. Whilst the winters can be bracing in many regions of the country with temperatures falling below zero there are also places that enjoy a more temperate climate if the wind and the wilds are not your cup of tea. Temperatures can climb as high as 40 deg C in many areas in the summer and the nation is very geographically intriguing with many active volcanoes dotting the nation that are excellent places to visit to learn more about our planet.
