Places of Interest

The Blackwater Valley is an area of spectacular beauty, situated in North County Cork in the South of Ireland. The valley derives it's name from the River Blackwater which flows through it. The Blackwater is famous for it's fishing, both salmon and trout are found in abundance in it's waters and many a fisherman has struggled to land some of these renowned fish.

The valley is also home to some of the most scenic and challenging golf courses in Ireland, among which the clubs of Fermoy and Mallow figure notably. Alternatively, if you favor viewing the countryside on horseback, the valley is also noted as "Horsey Country", with an abundance of riding schools and stud farms, indeed, Ashfield House itself is situated amongst CastleHyde and Grange stud farms, which are part of the world famous Coolmore Stud.
Tourist Attractions: There are many beautiful walks within a short distance, all sorts of terrain are available, from gentle hills and wooded glens to the higher, more challenging slopes of the Galtee Mountains.
